Transformative technology that takes waste to energy to the next logical evolution.

Innovation for a better purpose.

Vital Energy takes traditional waste to energy to the next logical stage: a regenerative system that is efficient, scalable, and transforms almost any feedstock into multiple energy forms.

Our design produces multiple product streams, using every available opportunity to extract and convert the waste stream into useable material. We generate renewable electrical power, RFNBO Fuels and other hydrocarbon fuels,  and carbon free ash that is used as a sand replacement in Portland Cement Concrete and concrete block. Each a valuable resource, all generated and created within a system that is clean, odourless and closed-loop.

Renewable power. Designed for anywhere.

The Vital Waste Conversion Gasification Design is available in 3 configurations: Mobile, Compact and Modular.

Mobile and Compact

The Mobile units range in size from as small as 0.03 and 1.2 MW Gasification Power Plant systems, or 6 Tpd to 100 Tpd Gasification Synthetic Fuel systems that produce up to 390 to 6,500 gal/day (1,482 to 24,700 gal/day of synthetic fuel.

The Compact configuration outputs 6.6 MW, using 150-250 Tdp. It can produce between 9,750, 16,250 gallons of Synthetic Carbon-Free Diesel fuel per day.

Unlike other systems, ours is designed to take medical waste, municipal solid waste (MSW), hazardous waste, agricultural waste, construction and demolition debris (C&D waste), and biological products as feedstock.

DESIGNED FOR ANYWHERE

The compact mobile units are designed to help clean up and provide power in storm or emergency situations. They can be up and running in less than 12 months, including commissioning, and operated by 2 people per shift.
COMPACT, NOT CONFINED

Our compact system take all forms of feedstock including  municipal solid waste, medical and hazardous waste, agricultural, construction and demolition debris, and biological products.

The Mobile 1.2 MW system is mounted on four to five, 8 ft by 20 ft (2.44 by 6.10 m) containers. They are quick to install and easily operated. For example, setup and commissioning of our 1.2 MW system requires less than 12 months. This makes it perfect for minimizing the need for generators and external fuel supply when processing C&D waste from storms and emergency situations. These systems are designed specifically for the waste stream or feedstock generated at the source.

Expandable power for municipalities

Our Waste Conversion Design for medium to large cities processes 300 to 400 Tpd of waste for each line into either 12 MW of electric power, or 26,000 gal/day of synthetic fuel. These units can be expanded up to 12 lines, or 144 MW, or 312,000 gal/day of synthetic fuel at a single location.

That’s enough to power entire cities, using existing landfill and mitigating new municipal solid waste.

An example of a 6 module facility that generates 72 MW, with expandability to 108 MW, by adding 3 more modules.

A facility this scale will also create 200 to 1,000 permanent jobs for operation of the facility, plus up to 200 construction jobs and up to 2,000 supporting jobs for waste collection, recycling and reuse.

Power doesn’t come at the expense of size. Our larger systems still keep a relatively small footprint. For example, a 72MW facility requires less than 40 acres (16 hectares).

Our system even produces enough power to run itself, eliminating the need to feed off existing grids.

RFNBO, perfect for cargo and transport vessels

With over 85,000 registered cargo ships globally, the industry consumes 300Mt of marine fuel a year, of which 77% is heavy fuel. This accounts for 2-3% of the global CO2, 4-9% of Sox, and 10-15% of NOx emissions.

Our RFNBO (Renewable Fuel from Non-biological Origin) for the Maritime industry is generated using the Gasification Synthetic Fuel Process to cost-effectively eliminate carbon emissions from fleets, meeting the global guidelines for carbon-free emissions years before 2050, with a single initiative.

How it works

Our Waste Conversion Design is built on an oxygen-fed gasification system to produce a clean synthetic gas. This synthesis gas consists primarily of CO, H2, CH4, H2O, N2, and small amounts of CO2. The synthesis gas is processed through cyclones, a reformer, an acid gas removal unit, an aqueous ammonia scrubber, a carbon absorption unit, and an electrostatic precipitator to remove sulfur, nitrogen, VOCs, and heavy metals. This process reduces concentrations of air pollutants to more than 1,000 times below air quality standards. This cleaned synthesis gas is then processed into liquid synthetic fuels using an advanced process.

Other income generating commodities

Alongside renewable power and RFNBO green Fuel our system generates carbon free ash.

The bottom ash and fly ash produced by our power plant are slightly pozzolonic, making it a perfect sand replacement in Portland Cement Concrete or concrete block production.
